Ian McKinley was one of the most promising players at Leinster Rugby Club. One day, during a match, the studs of one of his teammate’s boots accidentally perforated his left eye. Ian underwent surgery and, a year later, his retina suddenly detached - causing him to become blind in one eye and forcing him to withdraw from professional rugby. Still, he felt it wasn’t yet over. Against all the odds, and even with his partial sight, he returned to play as a professional rugby player in 2014.
