Treatment

Polarization is a treatment isolating from the reflections coming from glossy surfaces. These reflections are completely shielded, even in conditions of more intense light.
There are many ways to protect ourselves from direct light: under beach umbrellas, hats, etc. However, reflected light is everywhere. It is particularly annoying and straining, because it hits us directly from the scene we are observing.

Polarized lenses work on the light reducing it to a sole direction, shielding the sunbeams that annoy our vision. This way, we get more contrast and less reflections; images look cleaner, improving by consequent the visual perception.

Advice and use

In everyday life, we need a good protection against the aggression of the sun and direct light. We need a comfortable vision, respecting shapes and colours. Polarized lenses are effective to cut dazzling and improve contrast during outdoor activities and various indoor activities, including reading scores, cleaning doors and windowpanes or simply working in a house with a lot of natural light.

Driving

Driving

On the road, dazzling is very annoying for the driver, limiting visibility and increasing the risks of accidents. There are many reasons for that: dawn or sunset, the light reflected on the wet asphalt, the sun’s reverberation on the windscreen of the other vehicles.

Polarized lenses assure a better vision of harshness and contrast, of road signs, of signposts of red lights. Nonetheless, they are extremely effective in the haze

Aquatic sports and sea

Aquatic sports and sea

On the seashore or near an expanse of water, dazzling due to the mirror effect often produces bad vision. Another dangerous element for your eyes is ultraviolet rays.

Practicing aquatic sports exposes us to many external factors as dazzling, rain, brilliance, splashes and ultraviolet rays. Besides, the use of polarized lens gives us the great advantage to see under the surface of the water: that is why those lenses are particularly appreciated by fishermen.

Activities on the road / dirt tracks

Activities on the road / dirt tracks

Polarized lenses are the best solution also for activities on the road or on dirt tracks, as bike, skateboarding, jogging, when our eyes and vision are exposed to many dangers, coming from the surrounding environment (dazzling, rain, mud, wind, dust, pebbles).

Mountain and high mountain

Mountain and high mountain

Sports as scaling and climbing of a glacier sometimes expose you to a very strong light that, in condition of dazzling, may cause big troubles and real dangers (non-perception of obstacles – clefts, hostile ground).
In the mountains, light energy is particularly strong because of two important elements: the reduction of the natural filter of the atmosphere due to the altitude and the strong reverberation coming from reflecting surfaces as snow, ice and clouds.
Many factors must be considered, as:

  • ultraviolet rays, more aggressive on the mountains
  • blue light, reducing eyesight sharpness and focusing
  • infrared invisible radiations, causing undesired warmth to the eyes
  • reflected light
  • cold and wind
  • air rarefaction at high altitude

Free flying

Free flying

To have a perfect vision is absolutely necessary to this sport, in order to perfectly see the place where to land. Dazzling and bad perception of shapes and colours may be dangerous.

Golf and other ground activities

Golf and other ground activities

It is very important that the colour of the sunglasses matches the environment, obtains a good contrast, correctly balancing the objective and the background’s luminosity, enabling to clearly see the ball in flight against the sun or the dominant green of the course. Moreover, it is important to have a good protection.

FAQ

How does a polarized lens work?

How does a polarized lens work?

Light is transmitted in the space vibrating in many directions: when it passes through a polarized lens, this latter channels the rays of light, letting them pass only in one direction. That effect shields every reflected ray, included those imperceptibles to the human eye.

Which is the difference between a polarized lens and a normal coloured one?

Which is the difference between a polarized lens and a normal coloured one?

Normal sun lenses only decrease the transmission of light, reducing its intensity, whilst polarized lenses shield the reflected rays, enabling a more comfortable vision, increasing the deepness of the field of vision and improving the colours’ perception.
