  • 1956

    Wilhelm Anger creates the brand CARRERA, taking inspiration from one of the most famous South American car races in the Fifties: the CARRERA PANAMERICANA.

  • 1964

    Optyl is patented; it is a special thermosetting material boasting a 20% lower weight than any other thermoplastic material, conferring permanent elasticity and dimensional stability.

  • 1970s

    The first goggles and helmets collection is developed.

  • 1977

    CARRERA headquarters are established in Traun, Austria. Albrecht Rosenauer is the first CEO; he proposes to the market a new sports line of glasses which wins the world’s favour.

  • 1979

    After three years’ development CARRERA launches the CARRERA PORSCHE DESIGN collection, a completely different, unique and revolutionary line of sunglasses.

  • 1981

    CARRERA launches the first two models for prescriptive lenses, aiming at a predominantly sporting target. 

  • 1987

    CARRERA is the only official supplier for the most important sailing event: the “AMERICAN CUP ‘87” in Perth, Australia.  

  • 1988

    At the winter Olympics in Calgary, CARRERA wins 16 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze medals. CARRERA ski goggles are awarded the highest number of prices during the competition.

  • 1989

    CARRERA launches the new cycling collection, presenting all the products at the historic race Paris – Roubaix.



  • 1989

    Another great winter season for CARRERA with a total of 52 medals awarded during the World Championship in Vail and Lahti: CARRERA is confirmed as the most winning brand in the field of ski goggles.

  • 1992

    At the Winter Olympics in Albertwill, CARRERA wins 2 gold medals: Petra Kronberger (AUT) in the disciplines “Special Slalom” and “Combined event”, and  Patrick Ortileb (AUT) in the Downhill skiing. 

                

  • 1994

    At the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, CARRERA team wins 3 gold medals thanks to Vreni Scheneider (SUI) and Thomas Stangassinger (AUT) in the discipline Special Slalom and Jens Weissflog(GER) in the ski jump.  

  • 1996

    CARRERA enters Safilo Group, leader company in the field of high-end and high-quality frames. CARRERA BY SAFILO introduces in the market more and more innovative and in the van products.

  • 1997

    CARRERA takes part in the Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy) with Leblanc, Rebellin, Martinello, Guerini, all athletes from the Polti and Maurizio Fondriest team. 


               

  • 2000

    Austrian athlete Hermann Mayer wins the World Cup, totalling more than 2000 points.

  • 2001

    CARRERA sponsors the professional cycling team SAECO.

  • 2002

    CARRERA sponsors the best World Moto GP racers; among these are Max Biaggi, Marco Melandri, Roberto Locatelli, Loris Capirossi and many more.

  • 2003

    CARRERA obtains the Maglia Rosa (“pink jersey”). Gilberto Simoni wins the Giro d’Italia wearing CARRERA glasses and helmet.



  • 2006

    At the winter Olympics in Turin CARRERA wins several gold medals: for instance two medals are awarded to Felix Gottwald in the northern ski speciality and two to Thomas Morgenstern in the ski jump speciality.



  • 2006

    The 50th CARRERA Anniversary is celebrated.

  • 2007

    Anja Paerson turns into a ski-touring legend, becoming the only athlete to win a gold medal in every ski discipline at the World Championship.

  • 2008

    Carrera takes a leading role also in the fashion world, presenting again original but renewed vintage models, like Champion and Safari. This milestone marks the beginning of a huge success on International level.

  • 2009

    Carrera develops an eyewear collection with a distinctive style and consistent with the successful models of the sunglasses collection.

  • 2010

    Carrera begins also its U.S. expansion.

  • 2011

    CARRERA presents its new worldwide campaign ‘AFTER ALL, NO REGRETS’, with strong-impacting images, portrait of a generation engaged in living life to the full and enjoying every moment, in search of clean fun, without regrets.
